In-Office Procedures Q & A
What are in-office procedures?
In-office procedures are minimally invasive operations that Dr. Quinsey performs at his clinic. Unlike outpatient procedures, you don’t have to schedule a visit with another specialist or stay in a hospital. Instead, you can have your procedure in a familiar environment where you already feel comfortable and safe.
What are the most common in-office procedures?
Dr. Quinsey’s office is equipped with the latest technology and medical equipment, so he can perform a wide range of gynecological procedures, such as:
Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions within the uterus. The most common reason for a hysteroscopy is to diagnose the causes of abnormal uterine bleeding.
During this procedure, Dr. Quinsey inserts a device, called a hysteroscope, into your uterine cavity. The device transmits an image of your uterine cavity onto a monitor for you and Dr. Quinsey to see.
Endometrial ablation
Endometrial ablation procedures eliminate a very thin layer called the endometrial lining of the uterus to minimize or possibly stop abnormal uterine bleeding.
Colposcopy
A colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure that allows Dr. Quinsey to evaluate your cervix for precancerous or cancerous lesions. To perform the procedure, Dr. Quinsey uses a magnifying device called a colposcope to visualize the surface of your cervix. This test can reveal abnormal changes or growths on your cervix.
IUD insertion
An IUD, or intrauterine device, is a T-shaped device that Dr. Quinsey inserts into your uterus to prevent pregnancy.
Birth control implants
At his office, Dr. Quinsey offers the birth control implant NEXPLANON®. This small implant is a tiny rod that Dr. Quinsey inserts into your arm.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopic procedures are minimally invasive surgical procedures that only require a small incision. Dr. Quinsey makes a small incision in your abdomen and inserts a device with a miniature digital camera, called a laparoscope, to perform the procedure.
Some other in-office procedures that Dr. Quinsey performs are dilation and curettage (D&C), Essure® hysteroscopic tubal occlusion, and hysterectomies.

- Pelvic prolapse
- Urinary incontinence
- Uterine fibroids
